I took my kids to see the movie Enchanted, and I was very impressed. I would go so far as to say that it is the best film that Disney has put out in several years. It’s about fairy tale characters being transported to the real world.
We don’t go to the movies often. In fact, my daughters have now been to a movie at a theater three times in their lives. It’s just too expensive, and there are rarely movies worth going to a theater for. But this one was worth it.
It was a clean, family-friendly movie that was extremely entertaining. I appreciated that it actually endorsed “family values” overtly. It has some scary moments, which would make me think twice about taking children under 10 to see it. There is some mild innuendo as well, but I found it funny and not offensive. My children want to know why there aren’t more movies like it. So do I, especially since it is doing well financially.
SPOILER AHEAD–DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT
The highlight of the movie for me is when Giselle, the princess, encourages a married couple to work out their differences rather than divorce. The couple ends up doing so. I’m so happy to see a movie that supports commitment to the marriage vow instead of to divorce as an easy way out.
