I already have my two front teeth, and hippopotamuses are pretty ferocious animals. So I don’t want my two front teeth or a hippopotamus for Christmas.
Here are four things that I want, in order of importance:
1) My sister not to have cancer anymore.
2) To be a better husband and father.
3) God to make His presence more real to me.
4) More love in the world.
What things do you really, really want for Christmas?

I want:
a Joshua Bell CD
a Greg Olson painting, “O Jerusalem”
and ok, I want some important things as well, but those are included in prayers to the Lord. I have difficulty sharing such personal things on a public blog. Sorry.

I want to be in my home in Crestline, lots of snow, all my family there, friends to come by and visit, play checkers with Cole, my six-year-old grandson, have a roaring fire, catch a whiff of my just-bathed babies, crawl into the “secret-room” with my grandchildren, eat turkey and dressing and pumpkin pie and pecan tassies and apricot stollen; I want to play Balderdash around the table in our dining room and howl with laughter and take a walk in the snowy woods and stand before my dining room window and see the lighted houses across the lake, and hear Jerry once again read from the 2nd chapter of Luke before we eat dinner.
Thanks for asking.

I’m quite happy about my Christmases nowadays – except wanting a peaceful world, etc, etc.
Does this make me easily pleased, or complacent?

I have trouble thinking of things to ask for, much to my husband’s dismay. He found a lacy nightshirt he wanted to get me, so I said yes, it was very nice and I would like it.
I usually ask for books but I don’t find time to read them. I haven’t finished all of last Christmas’s books yet (and there weren’t very many). I am thinking of getting myself a book I found on amazon.com on understanding object-oriented programming (I learned structured programming and it’s a difficult paradigm change to get one’s head around).
In terms of things that can’t be wrapped and put under the tree, I would like to have a close friend. I’m not good at making new friends, and moving twice in three years doesn’t help. I have friends, but no one I could call a close friend.
I would like a more interesting job (thus the idea of the programming book). I would like to lose weight (three pounds so far in three weeks, I know slow but steady I’ll get there, but I can wish it were faster). And I really wish my house were a lot cleaner.

1. National revival. A genuine heartfelt, behavior changing, attitude adjusting, intensely worshipful move of God.
2. Greater ability to share the gospel with unbelievers and seekers.
3. Continued pain free living for my wife.
4. A Three Musketeers bar in my stocking.
That last one sounds silly, but it wouldn’t be Christmas without it.

I’d like my family’s version of what Shirley shared! (We all live too far from each other, so we have to see each other in stages, it seems.) We did succeed in getting the entire extended family together a few times for weddings, etc., but we haven’t been able to manage it at Christmas.
So, instead, a clean house, friends stopping by, good food, a happy husband. A little chocolate.
Big thing–world-wide revival.

Oh, yes, RG–I’d really like for your sister not to have cancer anymore, too. In fact, I’d like universal healing as part of my wished for world-wide revival.

I’m going to have all my kids and family with me this Christmas and since that’s all I want , I’ll tell you what I’ll ask for this Christmas. For your sister’s cancer to go away. I’ll keep her in my prayers.

Wow! So many of you have terrific “wants” for Christmas.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for my sister. It’s a big comfort to me.
