Mike Gallagher and Ann Coulter were discussing the current presidential election process on Gallagher’s radio program the other day. Gallagher mentioned something that one of his callers said, which was that it’s possible McCain will pick Hillary Clinton as his running mate. Think about it. Everybody is touting bipartisanship, and he would certainly pick up more than a few votes with such a maneuver.
When Gallagher asked Coulter what she thought, she was speechless for a moment. Then she said that “McCain is just stupid enough to do it.” She also pointed out that he has said that Hillary Clinton would make a good president and that Clinton is the most conservative candidate in the race.

Oh. My. Stars.
I so wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen. Don’t even get me started about our “choices” for this election!
I’ve begun to tune out a bit due to disgust, but I like to be “in the know” so rely on my conservative friends I trust to pass these things on right now. Thanks for the links.
RG’s Response: Nothing would surprise me anymore. People have already talked about Lieberman as McCain’s running mate–to which I say “Huh?” Who are conservatives supposed to vote for in this election?

The “architect” Karl Rove used to say that you don’t win elections by getting swing voters. You win elections by energizing your base. Talk about a way to kill the enthusiasm of your base. Lets not forget the republican party is not exactly happy with thier candidate who in the past has espoused the likes of Ted Kennedy on immigration. While it may seem like a good idea to get those swing voters, I’m not sure it would work. On the other hand, I’ve been wrong before.
RG’s Response: I agree with you, Jay. Another thing that Coulter talked about was the fact that liberal Republicans have mostly lost elections, while conservative Republicans have won them. Think about Ronald Reagan and how we were told that such a conservative candidate could not win. Can anyone say “landslide”? I believe that what Americans want is a man of principle who will do what is right rather than what is expedient.
