Warming or Cooling?

May 12, 2008 · 4 Comments

     I’m really beginning to wonder. . .

Are global temperatures getting warmer, getting cooler, or staying the same?

Check out “US Avg Temp in April: 1 Degree Below 20th Century Avg” at Micah Tillman’s blog.

Of course there’s global warming! Haven’t you heard of An Inconvienient Truth by Al Gore, and type in global warming chart on google and see what comes up.

RG’s Response: The fact that a politician made a movie and that somebody drew a chart is proof of global warming? What about the fact that temperatures have been very cool this year?

I saw an article a week or two ago, and I meant to blog on it, but didn’t get the chance to. The subject was, and I am not exaggerating — even if the global temperate gets cooler over the next decade, thats just more proof of global warming.

Global temperatures have remained virtually the same for the past ten years, with the exception of last year, which was the coldest since the turn of the century — the twentieth century.

Which explains why the alarmist recipients of billions of dollars in governmental grants might start to hedge their bets against global cooling.

You’ll also notice they are trying to change the name from “global warming” to the more versatile “climate change”

    Biggest – crock – in – history!

When I was in grade school, just 20 years or so ago, I was told time and time again that we were heading for another ice age. I remember being scared that my home would be destroyed by a large chunk of ice sliding southward from the pole.

So which is it. Am I going to die from the the global freeze or the global burn. I have plans to make ya know.

Jay Burns, yes, I remember that too.

I have two comments in response.

First, to be fair we must acknowledge that predictions change as technology advances. However, I think climate is such a complex thing that our predictive power will never be too reliable. Then again, I could be wrong.

Second, this switch from global cooling to global warming shows very clearly and strongly that “science says so” is not a reason to blindly accept anything. Science said that maggots spontaneously generate from rotten meat. Science said that atoms were the smallest particles possible. Science said that vitamin C would cure a cold. Science said that the appendix was a useless vestigial organ. We could go on and on.
